Grade 4B
Welcome to Grade 4B!!!! I know that we are going to have a super, fun-filled year!! My name is Ms. Nicodemi. I teach Math and Social Studies.. I am very excited to be able to continue to use our Pearson Savaas Math series. It is filled with wonderful activities, manipulatives, and so many fun and exciting ways to approach math. We will be working with Math centers, playing fun math games, and making use of our wonderful SmartTV and our IXL program. I always try to make Math a subject that children look forward to learning, and will continue to love well into their adult years. We will continue to facilitate our Social Studies series entitled " My World Interactive." This series focuses on Map and Graph skills, Literacy, Critical Thinking, and Regions of the United States. The series also focuses on content-specific and academic vocabulary and cultural diversity. I will be teaching grades 4A, 4B, and 4C Math and Social Studies to Grade 4B only.
And now a little bit about myself..... I have been teaching for 39 years, 12 years at Good Shepherd Academy in Nutley teaching first grade and 27 years at School 7 teaching fourth grade. I received my BA in education from Kean University and a Masters in Administration and Supervision from Montclair State University. In 2010, I was the recipient of the Governor's Recognition Award for Teacher of the Year at School 7. I have always had a love for teaching ,so to be able to do this job for so many years has been extremely satisfying for me.
This year, you will find all homework assignments, long term assignments and projects, and any important news or information posted here. Please check your child's homework folder and planner every night. Also, your child's "Thursday Folder" will be sent home on a weekly basis. It will be filled with graded tests, homework, and classwork. Please check the folder and send it back to school the following day, signed, with the appropriate box checked on the form stapled to the front of the folder. Please keep all the papers at home, except for failed tests, which must be signed and returned to me. Report cards, when available, may be viewed on line through OnCourse. A username and password was provided to each family in the past. If you are new to the district or cannot remember this information, you must contact the office and Ms. Maldonado will assist you. Also, please make use of our portal to a wealth of information: CLASS LINK. I will also send each child an invitation to join Google Classroom, in the event that this is needed, and each parent an invitation to join Class Dojo, which is an excellent communication device to keep the teacher in constant contact with the parents. Another tool that I will be using is Kami, whereby the students may do their work right on their chromebooks, send it to me, and receive immediate feedback. Once again, the students will need to set up a Kami page. I will send out instructions on how to do this shortly.
At School Seven, each classroom teacher selects a Student of the Month. That child's name will be posted on my website. The Student of the Month for September is:
