Welcome! I teach ESL/ELL (English Language Learners) grades K-6. I graduated from William Paterson University and also hold a Masters Degree in Reading from Montclair State University. Early in my career I was teaching second grade. I have taught in Passaic and Bergen County before coming to Belleville. During my time teaching in Belleville I have served on the ScIP Committee, Focus Team, DEAC and have served on Curriculum Committees as well as a Teacher and Principal Hiring Committee. In 2006 I was presented with The Governor's Teacher Recognition Award.
The purpose of the ELL program is to prepare my students to successfully assimilate on a cultural, social and educational level in the United States. The goal of the ELL program is to provide my students with the skills to effectively transition and maintain success in the daily instructional program.I work closely with your child's classroom teacher so that my lessons correlate to what they are learning in class. My ELL classroom is a place where students attain Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills, incorporating the students' cultural experiences in a small group setting.
Anytime you have a question or concern, please feel free to set up an appointment to meet with me. When parents and teachers work together, children truly succeed!
I'm looking forward to a productive school year.
Regards,
Diana Nieradka
